Foil/Epee/practice Sabre fencing mask

(more) »rank: 23763

from: Physical Chess

Editorial Product Review: :From first lesson to first competitions â a good beginnerâs mask that is also good for all levels of domestic USFA competitions in foil and epee, and is a solid practice mask for ( non-electric) saber with a noise-reducing vinyl head band. Available in 5 sizes, adjustable for custom fit. Outside: strong (passes 12kg punch test) with insulated mesh; pliable, felt-filled sewn-in bib (largest allowable) that lays close to the jacket, protecting the neck, unlike stiff bibs that curl up dangerously around the edges. Inside: lined for comfort with non-irritating fabric; ...

Budget complete practice fencing foil with french grip

Editorial Product Review: :If price is your major concern, this is the foil: large hexagonal nut for balance; best feel; felt thumb pad to cushion against hand jamming; sturdy aluminum guard for extra rigidity; practice blade with plastic tip. The limitation of this low cost foil is its Chinese blade, which over time can bend toward the end and make it harder to direct to target. A serviceable foil for beginners. Colors of pad and handle may vary.

Editorial Product Review: :A good beginnerâs glove, suitable for practice or electrical fencing, with many quality features. Leather palm and fingers for good hand protection and blade feel. The back of the hand and cuff is made of durable canvas and is pleasantly padded to cushion against the occasional thwack of opponentâs blade; the glove also boasts a double layer of leather over thumb, forefinger and lower part of the palm where gloves get the most wear. Low Budget complete practice foil, french grip

(more) »rank: 58722

from: Physical Chess

Editorial Product Review: :This is the most inexpensive foil. Actually a viable foil, though priced like a party favor. It differs from Budget Foil above two ways. The guard is thinner (will dent/bend easily), but here is part of an overall lowest possible price package. The large hexagonal pommel nut still provides the counterbalance to a Chinese blade, but the handle is a hard plastic one, not the easy to grip all-rubber one that is standard with all other models. Blade may be electric, with a dummy metal point (which is an alternative to ...

Mens Budget cotton foil/epee/sabre back zip fencing jacket

(more) »rank: 62266

from: Physical Chess

Editorial Product Review: :For club classes or beginners. Do not be misled by the tag âbudgetâ. This is a full quality jacket, made of 100% cotton, a strong canvas. It is durable and will server many generations of starters. Constructed according to USFA regulations with a double ply front and both sleeves double-ply as well, it has a back zip so that it works for both lefties and righties, and an adjustable groin strap. Donât be put of by the off-white color. It is a fine jacket, built specifically for beginners. Remember: to avoid ...

X-Fencing complete practice foil, french grip

(more) »rank: 27469

from: Physical Chess

Editorial Product Review: :Same quality set of supporting parts as PC F 500, but the advantage is that the blade is European-made and keeps its form. The result of a better blade is that the foil maintains its balance and feels so that anytime you pick it up, your hand recognizes it. You can depend on it without a second thought or doubt. Or you can upgrade the guard from rolled edged aluminum to heavier duty stainless steel.

On paper, the Mio DigiWalker P550 looks to be an attractive gadget for the mobile professional, combining the capabilities of a PDA and GPS into one device. However, its poor battery life and subpar navigation skills tell a different story.

Though it won't appeal to the masses quite yet, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a nice, portable device for on-the-go Web browsing, and it has some worthy upgrades.

Though it has a few design and performance glitches, the Sony Ericsson W300i is a quality, basic MP3 cell phone.

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.

But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.

Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."
